Holiday Recap (Did I fall off the bandwagon?)

The 2017 Holiday season has now come to an end, or at least they have for me. In Puerto Rico the Christmas celebrations will continue for a few more weeks until the end of “Las Octavitas”. For us is now time to get back to work and our dogs and normal routine. Coming back after spending time with my parents and the rest of my family and friends is never easy (not even after 10 years of living away from them) but I am so thankful that we are able to visit and spent these precious time together.

As mentioned on my previous post, Christmas in Puerto Rico (and I guess Christmas in general) is not necessarily the best place or time for healthy eating and while I tried to moderate my intake I was not going to pass on the opportunity for some delicious home cooked meals from mom and some of the traditional foods served during this time.  Did I eat a little too much sometimes? YES I DID! Did I maybe have a few extra drinks celebrating the end of 2017? YOU BET I DID! Do I regret it or feel guilty about it? HELL NO! I had an amazing time and nothing will take that away from me. In fact, I felt amazing during this trip, my energy level was up and while my feet were still hurting at the end of the day I was able to keep up with all the walking and activities throughout the day which is saying a lot. Usually my feet are hurting so bad by the end of the day that my evening are spent sitting down somewhere or being miserable.

Now I’m back in Texas and it’s time to get back on track with with my healthy lifestyle plan. Thankfully I only gained about two pounds these past couple of weeks which I am incredibly happy with as I thought for sure it would be more. Haven’t worked out or been to the gym yet so I’m sure I’ll be hurting all week and struggling to get through my workouts again but it’s all worth it. I’ve come back with my batteries recharged and more determined than ever.

2017 was interesting year to say the least. It’s been a year of highs and lows, not only on a personal lever but in general as well; from all the drama going  on with our elected officials (insert eye roll emoji here) to the natural disasters happening all over our country, there’s still hope that everything will get better as long as we make the effort to help ourselves and help others.

I’m really proud of where I’m at and everything accomplished so far, but can’t wait for the new adventures that 2018 will bring. If you would have asked me last year or even six months ago where I’d be entering 2018, it would not have been what I’m doing right now.

I’m thankful for everyone reading and accompanying me on this journey. Hope you all stick around this year as the best is yet to come.

  1. 2018 will be even better than 2017! Taking a little break during the holiday It’s not a bad thing actually as you mention refill you of energy and you can start new. That few pound you had gained and already lost was just water retention.
